Laminate Care & Maintenance

Daily care & maintenance

Laminate floors are beautiful and very durable, but they are not indestructible. Floors can dull when loose dirt acts as an abrasive on its surface. Avoid this damage by sweeping, dust mopping or vacuuming regularly to remove loose debris and grit from your floor’s surface. You can use a broom or, to make the job faster, a vacuum cleaner without a beater bar.

Vacuum cleaner brushes & other attachments are useful to pick up dirt from between laminate planks, tiles or along your room’s edges. We also recommend an occasional damp mopping, but be careful: your laminate flooring can expand if excessive water is used while cleaning. Therefore, after damp mopping, a clean dry cloth should be used to wipe your floor thoroughly.

Put glides or floor protectors on the bottoms of heavy furniture & legs to prevent possible scratches or dents. When moving heavy furniture, it’s important to lift rather than drag.

Dealing with spills

To prevent stains or potential damage from prolonged exposure to moisture, act quickly and wipe up wet spills immediately. Always follow the manufacturer's specifications! If dealing with a more stubborn stain, use a warm damp cloth and a manufacturer-approved cleaning solution safe for use on wood flooring. Make sure you consult your manufacturer's care guidelines if needed.
